Basketball Recap: Oak Ridge's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

If Oak Ridge was riding high fresh off their 68-44 takedown of Apopka last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Oak Ridge Pioneers and the Windermere Prep Lakers didn't end well, with the Oak Ridge Pioneers falling 80-65. The Pioneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lakers earlier this season, when they won 66-63.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Khalise Vidal, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. Vidal has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 40 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Jean, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Windermere Prep's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alayiah Johnson, who went 7 for 9 en route to 20 points along with seven assists and seven boards. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in blocks (three). Jazlyn Bowman was another key player, going 10 of 14 on her way to 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Oak Ridge moved to 15-8 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Windermere Prep, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-6.

Oak Ridge has already played their next game, a 61-57 victory against Leesburg on the 25th. As for Windermere Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-38 defeat against Winter Haven on the 24th.
