Basketball Recap: Artesia Extends Winning Streak to Four

Artesia won the last time they faced Lovington and things went their way on Friday too. The Artesia Bulldogs took down the Lovington Wildcats 57-42. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Lovington lost, don't look at Kayle Covington. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Covington's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Mika Pando, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Artesia's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Lovington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season.

Looking ahead, Artesia will square off against Portales at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Artesia is facing Portales at the right time seeing as Portales is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lovington, they will challenge Goddard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
