            Softball Recap: Lake Stevens Vikings vs. Everett Seagulls        
        
		
        
        
            It may have taken  eight innings to finish the job, but Lake Stevens ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a  win as the  team sidled past the Everett Seagulls  5-4. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by  just one  run.

 Mara Sivley spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts any time she's  pitched this season.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  McKenna Richer, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Emerson Cummins, who  went 1-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI.
Lake Stevens has  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Everett, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Stevens will head out to  face off against Kamiak  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Everett, they will head out on the road to  take on  Snohomish  at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Seagulls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.8  runs per game this season.
