Basketball Recap: Berkeley Prep Comes Up Short

Berkeley Prep lost against Wiregrass Ranch back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers took a 44-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Berkeley Prep lost, don't look at Molly Taylor. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. Taylor also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Berkeley Prep is 4-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 3-12 otherwise.

Wiregrass Ranch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marley Campbell out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Those 17 points gave Campbell a new career-high. Tennae Cabral was another key player, going 5 for 8 to rack up 12 points and seven boards.

Berkeley Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Wiregrass Ranch, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-9.

Berkeley Prep has already played their next matchup, a 73-35 loss against Lakewood on the 4th. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 26-24 victory against Land O' Lakes on the 4th.
