Basketball Recap: Cocke County Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Cocke County's game on Tuesday was all tied up 32-32 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past the Seymour Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 64-47. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 69-65 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Seymour saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Talon Pederson posted 15 points and seven rebounds. Pederson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. David Canterbury was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Cocke County pushed their record up to 8-12 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Seymour, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Cocke County will venture away from home to challenge South Greene at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Seymour, they will host Northview Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northview Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Seymour likes a good challenge.
