Recap: Moapa Valley Pirates vs. White Pine Bobcats
The Moapa Valley Pirates put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 49-16 victory over White Pine on the road. Given Moapa Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while White Pine is ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Claire Cox continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with 8 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Moapa Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylie Western, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Despite the loss, White Pine saw an underclassman step up: Amaia Shedd scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Moapa Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for White Pine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Moapa Valley will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Enterprise at 10:00 a.m. on December 2nd. Hopefully Enterprise focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday. As for White Pine, they will head out on the road to face off against Virgin Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
