Bishop Union is a perfect 8-0 against Boron since September of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Broncos will host the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Bishop Union will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Bishop Union is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Rosamond, posting a 62-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Roadrunners: they've now won seven in a row.
Bishop Union's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hunter Dailey, who rushed for 96 yards and one TD on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Emory Dondero, who threw for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Bishop Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Elliott Douda, Dom Barlow, David Smith, and Noah Castellanos picked up one apiece. Douda got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last matchup, Boron made sure to put some points up on the board against Kern Valley on Friday. The Bobcats came out on top against the Broncs by a score of 46-38. Considering the Bobcats' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Bishop Union better keep an eye on Andrew Gartica. He was instrumental in Boron's win, picking up 208 receiving yards and two scores, while also rushing for 67 yards and one TD on only five carries. That's the most rushing yards Gartica has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jalen York, who threw for 347 yards while completing 80.8% of his passes.
The victory got Boron back to even at 3-3. As for Bishop Union, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Dailey and Gartica. Dailey just won't slow down this season and has run in 5 touchdowns while averaging 82.7 rushing yards per game. Gartica has been a dominant force too and has run in 2 touchdowns while averaging 48 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Bishop Union against Boron when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 34-6 victory. In that contest, the Broncos amassed a halftime lead of 27-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
