Baseball Recap: Linn Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Linn came into Thursday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Belle Tigers 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gus Peters made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Peters was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Linn: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Kubiak, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Linn's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Belle, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Linn will venture away from home to square off against Russellville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belle, they will welcome Hermann at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
