Baseball Recap: Island Coast Takes a Loss

If Island Coast was riding high fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Ida Baker last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Island Coast Gators fell just short of the North Fort Myers Red Knights by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The match marked the Gators' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Island Coast saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases. The dominant performance gave Lopez a new career-high in stolen bases.

Having lost for the first time this season, Island Coast fell to 5-1. As for North Fort Myers, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Coming up, Island Coast will venture away from home to square off against South Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (South Fort Myers: 3.8, Island Coast: 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for North Fort Myers, they will welcome Cape Coral at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Coral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
