Softball Recap: Dilley Takes a Loss

If Dilley was feeling good fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Crystal City last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Dilley came up short against the Hondo Owls on Friday, falling 9-3. The Wolves have struggled against the Owls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Dakota San Miguel was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Romeo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Dilley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Dilley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Hondo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season.

Dilley will face off against Lytle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dilley's pitchers better be ready for this one: Lytle has averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Hondo, they will take on Crystal City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hondo is facing Crystal City at the right time seeing as Crystal City is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
