Recap: Spoto Spartans vs. Gaither Cowboys
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sickles, the Spoto Spartans were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They strolled past Gaither with points to spare, taking the game 60-46. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 22 to 14 on the offensive boards, as Spoto did.
Spoto's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dominique Boone, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. Jayla Griffin was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
Spoto has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Gaither, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spoto won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Blake at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Blake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 475th, while Spoto is ranked 186th). As for Gaither, they will be playing at home against Middleton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
