Baseball Game Preview: Washington Latin Public Charter School Lions vs. Bishop McNamara Mustangs

The Washington Latin Public Charter School Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop McNamara Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Washington Latin Public Charter School will be strutting in after a win while Bishop McNamara will be coming in after a loss.

Washington Latin Public Charter School is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against DC International on Tuesday. Washington Latin Public Charter School sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over DC International. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted against the Dragons since May 10, 2022.

Miles Johnson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JD Miller, who fired off three triples, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Ben Blier also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 22 runs the game before, Bishop McNamara was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against Landon, falling 13-1. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Bishop McNamara saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamryn Knott, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Washington Latin Public Charter School's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Bishop McNamara, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
