Baseball Recap: Mount Dora Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Countryside Christian

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mount Dora Christian Academy had no problem doing just that on Monday. Everything went their way against the Countryside Christian Minutemen as they made off with a 16-0 win. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Ethan Priest looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Weston Barrett was a standout: he fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Waring, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Mount Dora Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Mount Dora Christian Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 14-13. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Countryside Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-7.

Mount Dora Christian Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Minutemen: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
