Basketball Game Preview: Madison Central Jaguars vs. Clinton Arrows

The Madison Central Jaguars will square off against the Clinton Arrows at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Madison Central will head into Thursday's matchup out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were beaten by Starkville 60-31. The game marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Clinton won against Murrah on Thursday with 43 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Clinton took down Murrah 43-24. Given the Arrows' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clinton's win came from a few key players Madison Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jatoi Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aria Jones, who posted ten points.

Madison Central has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Madison Central didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Clinton when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 49-43 win.
