Baseball Recap: Woodlawn-B.R. Takes a Loss

Woodlawn-B.R. was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Family Christian Flames. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since February 17th.

Cade Saurage put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting no hits from his three at bats.

In other batting news, Noah Arroyo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Joshua Denova also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Woodlawn-B.R.'s loss dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Family Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodlawn-B.R. will welcome Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Family Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Episcopal at 4:00 p.m.
