The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings will head out to take on the Bremen Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Tippecanoe Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on La Lumiere with a sharp 13-3 win. The Vikings not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 12-1).
Tristyn Ragon looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Weston Brown was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Hunter Paxton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Tippecanoe Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Bremen came out on top against West Noble on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Lions blew past the Chargers 14-4. Considering the Lions have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Aden Hunziker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Aiden Alvarado also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
The victory made it two in a row for Bremen and bumps their season record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Tippecanoe Valley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Tippecanoe Valley suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Bremen in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
