Softball Game Preview: Hatton Hornets vs. Rogers Pirates

The Hatton Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Rogers Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hatton saw some tournament action on Saturday. Everything went their way against James Clemens as they made off with an 11-1 win.

Meanwhile, Rogers came into Monday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Clements with a sharp 16-1 victory on Monday. The Pirates not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14th.

Alyssa Richardson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Rogers let Lauren Nash and Alona Davis run wild. Nash went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Davis went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Nash has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattleigh Wells, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Rogers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hatton's record is now 12-18-2. As for Rogers, their record now sits at 10-14.

Hatton beat Rogers 7-3 in their previous matchup on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
