Basketball Recap: Jaleel Smith Key Part of a Team Effort in Huskies Win

Huss won the last time they faced Forestview and things went their way on Friday too. The Huss Huskies blew past the Forestview Jaguars 69-46. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Jaguars are ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Huss' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaleel Smith, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points along with seven steals and five boards. Smith is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kamari Falls also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Huss smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Forestview lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alex Helton, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hampton West, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Huss is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Forestview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Huss didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 92-55 win against North Gaston on the 28th. As for Forestview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-70 loss against Crest on the 28th.
