Baseball Recap: Atherton Has No Trouble Against Waggener

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Atherton brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Waggener Wildcats on Wednesday. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

William Wheatley was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Atherton is undefeated when Wheatley posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Jude Fulks was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Atherton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waggener only posted an OBP of .450.

Atherton now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Waggener, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Atherton will challenge Christian Educational Consortium at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Waggener, they will take on Brown at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
