Softball Recap: Lyndhurst Triumphs

The Lyndhurst Golden Bears earned a 9-4 victory over the Wallington Panthers on Friday.

Allie Ruiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Gianna Lembo was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Olivia Glasser, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Lyndhurst was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April.

Lyndhurst's record is now 7-12. As for Wallington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Lyndhurst will face off against Becton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.19 runs per game on average), something the Golden Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wallington, they will take on Butler at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
