Basketball Game Preview: Richwoods Knights vs. Peoria Lions

The Richwoods Knights will take on the Peoria Lions in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Richwoods is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of Lanphier by a score of 61-58. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Peoria put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Springfield with a 50-44 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Senators are ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Peoria's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Richwoods, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Richwoods beat Peoria 76-65 when the teams last played back in January. Does Richwoods have another victory up their sleeve, or will Peoria turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
