Recap: Omaha North Vikings vs. Millard West Wildcats
The Omaha North Vikings had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came out on top against Millard West by a score of 66-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Omaha North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jerri'on Williams, who scored 12 points. Deandre' Harper was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Millard West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Carson, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Carter LaBorde, who scored 14 points.
Omaha North's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Millard West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Omaha North the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Elkhorn South at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th. Millard West will take on Lincoln Southwest at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Lincoln Southwest is ranked 106th, while Millard West is ranked 92nd).
