Recap: Sand Creek Scorpions vs. Ponderosa Mustangs

It was a good run, but the Sand Creek Scorpions unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 88-51 loss at the hands of Ponderosa. Sand Creek has not had much luck with Ponderosa recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Sand Creek lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Wuol Chak, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Kotto, who scored ten points.

Ponderosa had a senior duo take command as Dylan Karsteter dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds and Noah Wilhelm scored 23 points along with five rebounds. The match was Wilhelm's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carson Keach, who scored 18 points.

Sand Creek bumped their record down to 3-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Ponderosa, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Sand Creek won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pueblo Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Pueblo Centennial is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Ponderosa, they will be playing at home against Northfield at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northfield is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
