Baseball Game Preview: Chula Vista Spartans vs. Southwest SD Raiders

For the second straight game, Chula Vista will face off against Southwest SD. The Spartans will welcome the Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chula Vista will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Chula Vista nor Southwest SD made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Spartans blew past the Raiders 8-2.

The team relied heavily on Brandon Lucero, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Chula Vista's win bumped their record up to 10-6-2. As for Southwest SD, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9-1 record this season.
