Baseball Recap: Holdenville Find Success

Holdenville's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wewoka Tigers a 12-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jace Dockrey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Bo Black was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Holdenville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Holdenville back to even at 2-2. As for Wewoka, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Coming up, Holdenville will head out on the road to square off against Meeker at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wewoka, they will host Stratford at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.4 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
