Baseball Recap: Episcopal Maroon vs. Landon Bears
Episcopal extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-14-1 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Landon Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-4 on Tuesday.
Episcopal saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hill Hubbard, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Landon, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
On Landon's side, the team relied heavily on Ben Pollack, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Ross, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Episcopal will square off against Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Landon, they will take on Gilman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bears are facing the Greyhounds at the right time seeing as the Greyhounds are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
