Volleyball Recap: Calexico Triumphs

Calexico proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Calipatria Hornets 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won nine in a row.

Calexico had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-9.

ALEXA AGUILAR was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 24 digs. Those 24 digs gave her a new career-high.

Calexico was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in five consecutive matches.

Calexico's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Calipatria, their defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-12.

Calexico wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Vincent Memorial on the 9th. As for Calipatria, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Palo Verde Valley on the 9th.
