Volleyball Recap: Hannah Austin Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Cheraw

Anson had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Cheraw on Wednesday. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won six in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-14.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Anson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hannah Austin, who had 14 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Austin has posted over her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Beam, who had ten digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Anson was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Cheraw lost, don't look at Londyn Driggers. Despite the final result, she had 23 digs and one assist. Driggers is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 21 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Anson's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Cheraw, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Anson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Monroe on the 6th. As for Cheraw, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against North Central on the 2nd.
