Volleyball Recap: West Takes a Loss

If West was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Highland last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Olympus Titans on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

West was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Olympus work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-23, 25-27, 25-16.

Despite the loss, West still got an impressive performance from Ethan Bigelow, who had 22 digs and two aces. Bigelow is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Olympus, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. West is set to square off against their familiar foe Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Olympus will take on rival Skyline at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
