Horizon Christian dropped their record down to 9-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Clinton Central Bulldogs by a score of 8-7. If Horizon Christian was looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to Clinton Central when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Cambria Hathaway and Cayden Marshall stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hathaway went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Marshall went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Kiger, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
As for Clinton Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 20, 2024.
On Clinton Central's side, Nuriah Harvey made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Harvey has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Long, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Addi Mounts was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Horizon Christian has already played their next game, a 20-3 win against Mooresville Christian on the 2nd. As for Clinton Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 17-5 victory against Sheridan on the 2nd.
