Baseball Preview: Carson Colts vs. Lakewood Lancers
The Carson Colts are taking a road trip to challenge the Lakewood Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Carson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Carson gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Granada Hills Charter 7-5.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lakewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Westminster 14-1 on Wednesday. The Lancers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lathan Rivas looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Jayden Pea and Nate Gallegos did most of the damage at the plate: Pea went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Gallegos went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Gallegos has posted since back in May of 2025. Anthony Rueda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Carson's record now sits at 5-1-1. As for Lakewood, their record is now 2-7.
