Recap: Washington County Panthers vs. Gates County Red Barons
In what's become a running theme this season, the Washington County Panthers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gates County 82-40 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-12.
It was another big night for Amari Chesson, who scored 22 points along with five assists and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Lavale Norman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Washington County pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.2 points per game. As for Gates County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Washington County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Martin County at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Martin County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups. As for Gates County, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North East Carolina Prep at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
