Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Eastlake

Eastlake entered their tilt with Pebble Hills on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 16-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Aydenn Estrada spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gabriella Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Zaira Mendoza also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Eastlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pebble Hills only posted an OBP of .321.

Eastlake's victory bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Pebble Hills, they dropped their record down to 10-17 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Eastlake is set to challenge their familiar foe Coronado at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pebble Hills will take on rival Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
