Santa Teresa has gone a perfect 10-0 against Chaparral recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Desert Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Lobos at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Santa Teresa has four straight victories, Chaparral has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Santa Teresa came out on top against Silver on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Desert Warriors put the hurt on the Fighting Colts with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Desert Warriors have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jayden Torres looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jackson Simpson was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Gavin Garcia was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Santa Teresa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Chaparral lost 22-5 to Deming on Wednesday.
Carlos Torres made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. He has become a key player for Chaparral: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Israel Nieto, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Santa Teresa, their record now sits at 15-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Santa Teresa hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Chaparral struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Santa Teresa's way against Chaparral in their previous meeting on Monday, as Santa Teresa made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Desert Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
