Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Ramblers vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

Eastern and Roosevelt are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Eastern Ramblers will take on the Roosevelt Roughriders at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastern has three straight wins, Roosevelt has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Eastern is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: McKinley Tech, who was ranked tenth at the time (Eastern was ranked second). Eastern breezed by McKinley Tech to the tune of 57-20 on Monday. The Ramblers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Eleanor Roosevelt and fell 66-30. The Roughriders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-12.

Eastern has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Everything came up roses for Eastern against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 60-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
