Softball Game Preview: Constantine Falcons vs. Centreville Bulldogs

The Constantine Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Centreville Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Constantine is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Constantine didn't have quite enough to beat Buchanan and fell 9-8. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Bucks: they've now lost three in a row.

Jozee Buglione and Olivia Ransbottom did some serious damage despite the final result: Buglione went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Ransbottom got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Buglione has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Olivia Herlein was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Centreville waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Vikings.

Centreville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Constantine, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.

Constantine suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Centreville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
