Basketball Game Preview: Mayfair Monsoons vs. Paramount Pirates

The Mayfair Monsoons will challenge the Paramount Pirates at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Mayfair is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Mayfair came up short against Gahr on Friday, falling 52-27. While losing is never fun, the Monsoons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 941st, while the Gladiators are ranked 354th).

Meanwhile, Paramount got the win against Downey on Wednesday by a conclusive 61-40. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Paramount's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Mayfair, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Mayfair was dealt a bruising 62-28 loss at the hands of Paramount in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Mayfair avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
