On Saturday, Frenship faced Monterey in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Frenship Tigers walked away with a 70-60 victory over the Monterey Plainsmen. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won five matches in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Monterey lost, don't look at Aaliyah Chavez. Despite the final result, she posted 27 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Chavez's 25th in a row with at least ten points. Johnson Ari was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Frenship has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Monterey, they moved to 22-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frenship will venture away from home to face off against Farwell at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Frenship has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. Monterey knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Lubbock-Cooper likes a good challenge.
