Basketball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Licking Heights Hornets. The Lancers lost against the Hornets in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 64-38 score last time.

Lakewood's record now sits at 3-13. As for Licking Heights, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8.

Lakewood and Licking Heights could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Lakewood will challenge Fairfield Union at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 513 places (539 vs. 26). Similarly, Licking Heights (ranked 516th) will meet Granville (ranked 140th) at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
