Basketball Recap: Miami East Vikings vs. Riverside Pirates

The Miami East Vikings put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Riverside 48-12 at home. Miami East has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 24 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Miami East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Phillips, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maryn Gross, who scored five points along with five steals.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Riverside struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Miami East pushed their record up to 20-0 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Miami East will take on the Bees at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bethel has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9. As for Riverside, they will be playing at home against the Buccs at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Covington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Pirates in Ohio (the Buccs are ranked 159th, while the Pirates are ranked 549th).
