Basketball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Newport has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 49-33 to the Mascoma Royals, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-33 last Wednesday.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Mascoma, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

While Newport had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
