Softball Recap: Hammond Beats Augusta Christian for Their Third Straight Win

Hammond had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Augusta Christian Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 on Tuesday.

Eliza Spratlin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sami Campbell, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Hammond's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Augusta Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Hammond will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heathwood Hall Episcopal at 5:00 p.m. on April 1st. Hammond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Augusta Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Fox Creek at 5:00 p.m.
