Basketball Recap: Pueblo East's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Pueblo East had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 50-42 win over the Harrison Panthers. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 80-77 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Pueblo East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaden Garcia led the charge by putting up 14 points and three steals. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Enzo Pecoraro, who posted five points along with 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Pueblo East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrison only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Harrison's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Arocho, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Arocho a new career-high in steals (three). Tayten Franko was another key player, going 7-for-11 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Pueblo East pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points over those games. As for Harrison, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Looking ahead, Pueblo East will venture away from home to challenge Pueblo Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pueblo Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season. As for Harrison, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harrison is facing Coronado at the right time seeing as Coronado is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
