Vandegrift (Austin, Texas) senior Greg Brown III announced Friday he will be staying in-state, committing to long-time favorite Texas.

Brown chose the Longhorns over the NBA G League path, Auburn, Kentucky, Memphis and Michigan as well as several other top college programs.

Brown is regarded as the No. 9 prospect in the Class of 2020 according to 247Sports and is a projected lottery pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-9 forward earned second team MaxPreps All-American honors after a strong senior season that saw him average 26.1 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.1 assists per game, while knocking down 86 3-point attempts at a 38 percent clip.

Brown finished a spectacular four-year career with 3,007 points, 1,493 rebounds and 427 blocks in 121 games.

Look for the 5-star forward to make an immediate impact in the Big 12 next year, with a versatile skill-set that makes him a matchup nightmare for defenders to go along with elite shot-blocking and rebounding abilities.
