Norwell posted their closest victory since May 15, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Woodlan Warriors 8-7. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kara Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mia Kurtz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Makayla Young was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Norwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 12-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Norwell is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Woodlan, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-5.

Norwell and Woodlan are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Knights will square off against Bellmont at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Woodlan, they will face off against Bluffton at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
