Recap: Oakleaf Knights vs. Bartram Trail Bears
The Oakleaf Knights pushed their score all the way to 42 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Bartram Trail by a score of 45-42. Oakleaf has struggled against Bartram Trail recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Laython Biddle got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Trujillo, who rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown.
Oakleaf's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-1 Madison County and 10-3 Buchholz (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.3% over those games). As for Bartram Trail, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakleaf will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Clay at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Clay is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Bartram Trail, they will head out on the road to face off against Mandarin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mandarin's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games.
