Basketball Recap: Camden Cooper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Johns Country Day over Salpointe Catholic

St. Johns Country Day suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against the Salpointe Catholic Lancers, falling 80-55. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 472nd in Florida, while the Lancers are ranked 91st in Arizona).

St. Johns Country Day's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camden Cooper, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 20 points. That was a full 36.4% of St. Johns Country Day's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliot Graham, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, St. Johns Country Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
