Basketball Recap: Barnwell Comes Up Short

Barnwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 71-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors.

Andrew Jackson Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vashahd Schofield led the charge by putting up 21 points and seven rebounds. The game was Schofield's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gage Dicks, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points and four steals.

Barnwell's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Barnwell will venture away from home to challenge Silver Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-60 victory against Allendale-Fairfax on the 28th.
