Soccer Game Preview: Lyons vs. Nazareth Academy

The Lyons Lions will face off against the Nazareth Academy Roadrunners at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lyons will be strutting in after a victory while Nazareth Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Lyons gave up the first goal on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Oak Park-River Forest. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lyons.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Nazareth Academy was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Downers Grove North by a score of 2-1.

Nazareth Academy's goal came courtesy of Daniella Berruti, who's now up to six this season.

Lyons pushed their record up to 7-8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Nazareth Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6-1.

Lyons took their victory against Nazareth Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Roadrunners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
