Basketball Recap: Valor College Prep Comes Up Short

Valor College Prep lost against Hume-Fogg back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Valor College Prep Wildcats were outmatched by the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights and fell 81-29. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Blue Knights are ranked 42nd).

Hume-Fogg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Nwoye led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Nwoye a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Alonzo Rhodes, who went 9 for 13 en route to 20 points and five rebounds.

Valor College Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Hume-Fogg, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valor College Prep will welcome Glencliff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Valor College Prep is facing Glencliff at the right time seeing as Glencliff is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hume-Fogg, they will be playing at home against Maplewood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
